Initiate Collaborate

A card game to kick-start a new collaboration

Initiate Collaborate is a self-facilitating, gamified, workshop-in-a-box. The game is designed to bring people from different backgrounds together at the start of a new project to explore what a successful collaboration might look and feel like. It takes players through a series of fun and practical activities that ultimately build a shared vision or ‘project manifesto’ for the team.

My Role

I was a member of the core project team and helped conceptualise, develop, test, and refine the toolkit. The idea was originally based on the challenges identified through prior ‘design for health’ projects that I had been involved in at the DHW Lab. While I was working there, I facilitated a series of workshops with designers, clinicians, and health researchers to explore what makes a successful transdisciplinary collaboration. The insights gained from these workshops were a key part of the design and development of the Initiate Collaborate toolkit.
